This time of year it seems like Pumpkin Spice is all the rage. From classic pies and pastries to lotions and to scented candles it seems there is no escaping the pumpkin spice craze. I am personally no different. This time of year with the crisp air and fall colors I am a sucker for a cozy hot beverage especially one with a little pumpkin spice. Many store bought versions contain a ton of extra sugar, gums and additives besides pumpkin spice. Keep it simple and keep it healthy with this easy to make homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte that costs a fraction of the store bought version. Trust me you will love the flavor and the extra cash in your wallet.
1 cup black coffee, more if you like it stronger
¼ cup canned pumpkin puree, not pie filling
¼ cup real maple syrup, you can use less if you want it less sweet
1 teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 tablespoons cinnamon
1 tablespoon ginger
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon allspice
For a Hot Beverage: While the coffee is brewing. In a small saucepan, combine all remaining ingredients and warm over medium-low heat, Whisk the ingredients until the milk begins to bubble on the sides.
Once warmed if desired, use an immersion blender or milk frother to create an extra creamy beverage. Carefully combine walk milk mixture with hot brew coffee. Garnish with a little whipped topping or sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice and enjoy!
For an Iced Beverage: Use leftover or chilled coffee. Combine all ingredients in a blender and mix until well combined. Pour mixture over glasses filled with ice. Garnish with a little whipped topping or sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice and enjoy!
